The Technology Literacy Curriculum has been redesigned to align with national technology standards outlined by ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education). Teacher writing teams have used the ISTE Standards as a framework to develop a scope and sequence and specific Reporting Standards in grades K-6. The Technology Literacy Curriculum Scope and Sequence provides a framework that indicates when skills are introduced, reinforced and applied throughout the curriculum.
The Technology Literacy Curriculum is designed to provide teachers with the necessary resources that will allow them to integrate the required reporting standards into their existing curriculum. The specific skills should not be taught in isolation, but rather integrated into existing curriculum areas where students can make connections with other subject areas.
Teachers are encouraged to utilize the cross-curricular lesson plans in order to address the Technology Literacy Reporting Standards. Each lesson plan is aligned with a specific curriculum area standard and is accompanied with supplemental resources to assist in teaching those standards. Many of these supplemental resources include templates that can be immediately downloaded and used by students or teachers in the development of their project or lesson. The Technology Literacy Curriculum is intended to be flexible, allowing teachers the option to use existing lesson ideas to meet specific reporting standards at each grade level.
