Why does Moodle look different?
The reason why Moodle may look different to you is because we have changed the default theme. Along with a change of colors, an additional navigation bar has been added with the links: Home, My Moodle, All Courses and Help.
Everyone will see the default theme before they log in. If a user has changed their "user theme" they will see that theme after they log in. If a user has set a "course theme" they will still see that theme for their course. If no user or course theme is set, then the default theme (which was just changed) will be seen.
How do I get the old theme back?
If you would like to view Moodle in the old theme you can change your user and/or course theme back to the original them which is called "Custom Corners".
Change your user theme back to the original theme:
1.) Log in
2.) Click on your name in the top, right corner
3.) Click the Edit Profile tab
4.) Click the button "Show Advanced" if it is showing
5.) Click the drop down menu for "Preferred theme"
6.) Choose "custom_corners"
7.) Scroll down to the bottom and click "Update profile"
Change your course theme back to the original theme:
1.) Log in
2.) Go to your course
3.) Click "Settings" in the administration block
4.) Change the setting "Force theme" to "custom_corners"
Where are my courses?
You will notice after you log into Moodle that it no longer takes you to the same page as before. We no longer "force" users to use their My Moodle page (which was the page you used to get directed to right after logging in).
Your courses can be seen:
On the Front Page (right after logging in) below the top section Your "My Moodle" page (click the "My Moodle" image on the Front Page or click "My Moodle" in the navigation bar (if you are using the default theme) Direct link: http://moodle.district279.org/moodle/my/
What is the "My Moodle" page?
The "My Moodle" page is a customizable "dashboard" page providing users with links to their courses and activities within them, such as unread forum posts and upcoming assignments.
This is the page that you used to be directed to after logging in. This is not a new feature, but you will need to navigate to this page differently than you used to.
To view your "My Moodle" page:
- Click on the "My Moodle" image on the Front Page
- Click on the "My Moodle" link in the navigation bar - this is only if you are using the default theme
- Go to: http://moodle.district279.org/moodle/my/
