Two school days have been added to this year’s school calendar to recover some of the instructional time lost to the recent weather-related cancellations.

  • Friday, March 7 will be a regular school day for preK-12. It was originally scheduled as a mark reporting day.
  • Friday, April 18 will be a regular school day for preK-12. It was originally scheduled as a staff development/teacher workshop day.

Adding these two days for students is important because of the unusual amount of instructional time that has been lost due to the weather cancellations. Adding the makeup days in early spring will help ensure more productive learning than adding them to the end of the school year.

If your child is between the ages of three and five, it’s time for Early Childhood Screening! It’s particularly timely for any student planning to attend kindergarten in the 2014-15 school year, because screening is required prior to enrollment.

Osseo Area Schools provides this free 60-minute developmental check-up, which is required by the State of Minnesota, for all preschool-aged children ages three through five. Screenings are age-based, so it is not necessary to wait until a child is five to make an appointment.

Osseo Area Schools offers screenings at two locations: Arbor View Early Childhood Center, 9401 Fernbrook Lane, Maple Grove and Willow Lane Early Childhood Center, 7020 Perry Ave. North, Brooklyn Center.  Make an appointment by calling 763.391.8776.
