BWTwinsFuldsVisit3Basswood Elementary students and staff were treated to a visit by members of the Twins this week. T.C. Bear, Twins outfielder Sam Fuld and team strength and conditioning coach Perry Castellano held a lively pepfest at the school as a reward for having the most people registered in the Hennepin County Step To It Challenge.

Basswood teacher Lisa Tauer was instrumental in encouraging staff and students to register and participate in the challenge as a way to keep thinking about exercise as they head into summer.

Castellano talked to the students about nutrition and exercise. Fuld shared how being active has helped him cope with Type 1 diabetes, a condition he’s had since he was 10.

Students had a chance to ask questions and give lots of high fives during the pepfest.
