The Minnesota Safety Council awarded Osseo Area Schools a Governor’s Safety Award for Meritorious Achievement in Occupational Safety, which recognizes superior performance in workplace safety and health. This is the sixth consecutive year that the district will receive an award for its exceptional safety performance.
Osseo Area Schools is one of 267 employers who were recognized at the Governor’s Safety Awards luncheon at the Minneapolis Convention Center on May 7. Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with their industry’s national statistics, and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive workplace safety program.
The district’s safety efforts are led by Dean Olsen, health and safety coordinator, who is also a Certified Safety Professional—the premier credential for safety professionals. Efforts continue to curb employee injuries and lost time and save costs for the district on its worker’s compensation insurance rates.
