Members of the Minnesota Twins treated Woodland Elementary students and staff to a visit this week. T.C. Bear, Twins catcher Chris Herrmann and team strength and conditioning Coach Perry Castellano visited the school as a reward for having the most people registered in the Hennepin County Step To It Challenge for a school with more than 500 students.
Woodland teacher Jenna Peterson was instrumental in encouraging staff and students to register and participate in the challenge as a way to keep thinking about exercise as they head into summer.
Castellano talked to the students about nutrition and exercise, then led Woodland’s Woody the Eagle and T.C. Bear in an entertaining calisthenics routine. Castellano also shared with the students the importance of getting an education was to him so he could fulfill his dream of being a coach.
Students had a chance to ask Herrmann questions and give lots of high fives during the celebration.
