Last week, policy makers, youth leaders, and other stakeholders, including leaders from Osseo Area Schools, met in Brooklyn Center for a “Building Champions Afterschool Summit” to increase awareness and build partnerships to grow afterschool programs. Students from Brooklyn Junior High and Park Center Senior High helped lead activities during the summit.
After school programs refer to activities that take place outside the school day or during the summer. Afterschool programming provides safe spaces for kids and fosters physical, emotional, and mental health.
Osseo Area Schools is a founding member of the Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth, one of the summit sponsors, along with the Minneapolis Youth Coordinating Board, Ignite Afterschool, Youthprise, and Hennepin County.
Videos produced by the Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth feature the voices of local community leaders and students sharing how afterschool programming influenced their lives.
