Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly, Security Council, or other multilateral body that introduces students to the world of diplomacy, negotiation and decision-making. Through Model UN students learn skills in researching, writing, public speaking, problem solving and compromising, all of which help students find success in future academic settings and professional workplaces.

The Park Center Model UN team, led by teachers Sonia Nunez-Gibbs and Nancy Ziemer, began 11 years ago at North View Middle School and has since evolved into a high school team. Coach Nancy Ziemer (pictured right) also was recognized for her 11 years of service and dedication to MUN, earning the Norma Rowe Teacher Award; selected for long-term commitment, preparation of students of any abilities for conferences, high standards, enthusiasm and creativity. The team’s season will continue this year as they prepare to host and chair MUN conference for NVMS and BMS eighth-graders in May.
