Around seventy students from Maple Grove, Osseo, and Park Center senior highs participated in the Northwest Suburban Conference Music Festival as part of the all-conference band, choir or orchestra on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
Students from 14 schools are selected for the honor of performing in one of the all-conference ensembles at the festival. The purpose of the festival is to provide students the opportunity to pursue excellence in music performance, to listen to music with understanding, and to celebrate the artistic achievements of other student musicians. The existence of the music festival reflects the commitment of the Northwest Suburban Conference member schools to promote student opportunities in fine arts.
The festival also included an opportunity for each member school's most accomplished band, orchestra and choir to present a concert for other student musicians. It is non-competitive; however, each performance is critiqued to allow for feedback for the students. Around 750 students from all three comprehensive high schools participated in this experience on Monday, Feb. 12.
